Overnight: River Trees Country Inn (or Mount Meru Game Lodge), dinner

After breakfast, drive to Tarangire, Tanzania’s fifth largest national park and sanctuary for an unusually large elephant population. Majestic baobab trees are an interesting feature of the park, dwarfing the animals that feed beneath them. Animals concentrate along the Tarangire River, which provides the only permanent water supply in the area. Driving time without game viewing – 2 hours.

Overnight: Maramboi Tented Lodge, full board

After breakfast you’ll drive across the floor of the Great Rift Valley to Lake Manyara National Park for your second game drive. This beautiful park combines an alkali lake covered with flocks of pelicans and flamingos with African savannah and tropical forests of giant fig and mahogany trees. Elephant, giraffe, buffalo, zebra and a variety of antelope inhabit the park as well as a variety of monkeys and a large population of hippos. If you are lucky you may see the Manyara lions, well known for their tree climbing habits, lazily resting on the branches of an Acacia tortilis tree. The bird life is also abundant, with flamingos, pelicans, hornbills and plenty of forest species. Driving time without game viewing approx. 2:30 – 3 hours.

Overnight: The Castle Lodge, full board

After breakfast you start on your way to Serengeti National Park, one of the most famous wildlife sanctuaries in the world. The vast Serengeti plains cover an area of about 15,000 square kilometers and during the months of the Great Migration is the habitat of huge numbers of wildebeest, zebra and Thomson’s gazelle. The Serengeti kopjes, massive boulder islands of granite standing in a sea of grass, provide shelter to a great variety of plants and animals, from the elusive leopard to the tiny dik dik. After stopping for your picnic lunch at such a kopje you will continue further into the park and go on a game drive. Driving time without game viewing 4-5 hours.

Overnight: Kuba Kuba Tented Camp, full board

Enjoy an early morning game drive to see both nocturnal predators returning from hunting and animals waking up in the early morning light. After enjoying a bush breakfast at the hippo pools, you proceed with your game drives around Serengeti named after an old Masai word Siringet, meaning ‘Endless Plains’. Depending on the time of year and the migration of the herds you can expect to see wildebeest, lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, monkeys, baboons, hippos, rhinos, antelopes and many birds and other species. Return to your luxury camp for late lunch or stay in the bush until late afternoon. In the evening you will be surprised with a private candle light dinner under African stars.

Overnight: Kuba Kuba Tented Camp, full board
